Although she thought being back in Coyneston Rock would be the worst thing that ever happened to her, it isn't long before Evan begins to question the choices she made, and wonder if she might be able to win Delilah over after all.

For a new author this was a really great romance book. It was great throwing all kinds of things into the story as well.
This was a really quick read but it had a good depth to it and I liked that it also had a main character with depression. I really enjoyed this story.
This is quick read that jumps right into the story of Evan returning home to a Magic town she cut ties with 4 years ago. There's no real back story so you kind of have to learn everything as you read along. Regardless, you are given just enough to form some ties to the characters. A read I enjoyed and a solid 4 stars for me.
For a short, indie novella I found this to be pretty well written with quite a lot packed in.
From the first page, the book held my interest. Our lead protagonist, Evan, is returning home to the small town she grew up in after declaring she would never come back. The author did a superb job of giving Evan depth and introducing us to the town she fled. I really liked the dialogue and interactions between characters and, in general, the story is solid.
The book divides its time between Evan's feelings on returning home, her coming to terms with her romantic feelings towards her best friend, and her sister's depression. I thought the handling of the depression and mental illness was accurate and well done especially because it's not an easy topic to address.
The romance was sweet but I think it's where the story suffered some. We don't get to know Delilah, Evan's love interest, that well and the story would've benefited from being longer and giving them more time. It's not that they don't get any or we don't have some insight into Delilah but their scenes moved faster than I would've liked.
There are some editorial mistakes here and there but, for me, they are easy to overlook due to the quality of the read.
Overall, this is short, sweet, somewhat melancholy but enjoyable novella and I'll keep my eye on this writer. 3.8 stars.
